Strong framing. Points and perks usually reward behaviour that would have happened anyway, so they rarely move the retention number. What actually retains people is relevance, being reached at the right moment with something that fits where they are in their journey. A loyalty program layered on top of a broken lifecycle just subsidises your existing buyers. Fix the journey first, then the program amplifies it instead of masking the gap. Really enjoyed this.
