🧠 Stop Copying Great Ads, Start Teaching Them to Your System
Most marketers screenshot winning ads, toss them into Notion, and call it a day, but saving isn’t learning. The real value comes from reverse engineering: breaking down why it worked, not just what it looked like. When done right, every top ad becomes a training dataset for your strategist, your AI, and your creative team, showing what actually drives results and why.
The “Ad Dissection Blueprint” (Use This Every Time)
Whenever an ad performs 2–3x over benchmark, run it through this:
1. Emotional Thesis: What core belief or fear is this ad pressing on?
Example: “You’ve wasted money on similar products before; this one finally works.”
2. Persona Fit: Who is this ad really speaking to? First-timers? Skeptics? Price-sensitive switchers?
3. Framework Used: Is it PAS (Problem-Agitate-Solve)? Is it Testimonial-Driven? Is it “Before/After Reveal”?
4. Tone, Structure, and Rhythm: Empathetic? Authoritative? Sassy? Short-punchy lines or story format? CTA at the top, middle, or end?
5. Creative Elements: What visuals made it scroll-stopping? Was it raw, stylized, or demo-first?
Teach the System, Not Just the Team
Once you extract all this, feed it into your AI prompt system:
“Based on this winning ad, identify emotional triggers, structure format, and psychological tactics. Generate 3 new ad variants for [Persona X] using the same structure and tone.”
This is how AI becomes an asset, not a shortcut.
It doesn’t replace creativity. It compounds the wins and systematizes creative learning at scale.
Final Take
You don’t need more swipe files. You need structured reverse engineering that fuels smarter creativity. The fastest-scaling brands don’t copy ads; they analyze them like data, extracting patterns and triggers. Want this turned into a Notion template or AI prompt sheet next? Let’s build it.
🚨 Google Lighthouse Overhaul Will Reshape SEO Performance Audits
Google is revamping Lighthouse to align with Chrome DevTools’ new Performance panel insights. This shift affects how performance data is grouped, named, and reported, with major implications for SEOs and dev teams. The updates will begin rolling out in May 2025 and finalize in October.
Audits Are Being Merged and Renamed - Google is combining multiple audits into broader insights like “CLS Culprits” and “Image Delivery.” This means you’ll no longer be able to toggle sub-audits individually.
Several Legacy Audits Are Being Removed - Outdated audits like First Meaningful Paint, Offscreen Images, and Rel Preload are being deprecated. These metrics are either redundant or no longer reflect real-world optimization needs.
Insights Will Replace Diagnostics in the UI - A new “Insights” heading will house the updated audits, while legacy audits stay under “Diagnostics.” Starting with Lighthouse 12.6 in Chrome 137, users can preview both views. Lighthouse 13 (October 2025) will remove the old audits entirely.
Dev Teams Need to Prepare Now - JSON outputs already support the new audits for early adoption and testing. CI systems, analytics pipelines, and custom reporting tools should begin adapting now. Google will publish new docs and support feedback via GitHub.
These updates streamline SEO diagnostics but will require updates to workflows, reporting tools, and client education. If you rely on Lighthouse for optimization or reporting, now’s the time to prepare.
